The Libertarian Angle: For a New Liberalism

Future of Freedom Foundation president Jacob Hornberger discusses the original meaning of “liberalism” with Richard Ebeling, as well as his new book, For a New Liberalism. The people on the left “stole” the word liberalism to make it mean the opposite of what it is supposed to mean. Liberalism was intended to mean advocating to liberate the people, but for a century it had then been referring to statism and socialism. (And now the people on the left are more open about it: they mean “socialism” and they’re saying it. But regardless how destructive socialism has been, the tens of millions of deaths, the mass starvation and misery, nevertheless the socialists keep on truckin’. Sad.)
